Daryle HendryHonorary Membership (2015) In 1999 Daryle was appointed as the Director of Admissions where his first major task was to lead the department's leap (of faith) to the new BANNER system. In 2000 and 2001, working in cooperation with Irma Rubio (UTEP Director of Admissions), he coordinated the creation and implementation of the EPCC/UTEP Joint Admissions Application Form. After presenting this partnership success at TACRAO, the idea of a single admissions application for Texas Higher Education began to grow, eventually becoming today's ApplyTexas. One of the most important hidden components of that first joint admission application agreement was the mechanism for obtaining students' permission to share their education records, -namely transcripts, between institutions. This hidden agenda would eventually allow EPCC to obtain UTEP transcripts in order to "Reverse Transfer" academic credit from the university to the college to facilitate completion of their Associate degree. In 2004, all the pieces began to come together. EPCC combined the Admissions and Registrar's departments and Daryle was named as the Executive Director of Admissions and Registrar. During Daryle's ten years as the Executive Director from 2004 to 2014, he authorized the reverse transfer of credit and awarded 4,995 Associate's degrees within the reverse graduation program. As with the success of his joint admissions application idea, EPCC's reverse graduation program sparked State-wide participation now affectionately known as "Reverse Transfer." Representing Texas, Daryle continued to actively support growth of this concept nation-wide by presenting and participating in AACRAO sponsored conferences and meetings on this topic until his retirement. Although Daryle participated in and chaired several committees during his 15 years in TACRAO, including Apply Texas and most recently Co-chairing the LAC for the 2013 Conference in El Paso, he considers his most memorable and humbling experience in TACRAO to be with the Nominations Committee. It was here that he first had the opportunity to truly recognize and appreciate the breath of leadership and experience of his TACRAO colleagues. He shares that he will ever be grateful for the trust that his peers placed in him by choosing him to help select their future leaders. Daryle retired from EPCC December 2014 and now considers "everyday" to be Saturday. He keeps busy with wife Sandra, traveling, his horses and motorcycle trips. But he enjoys most of all just being home with Sandra and his puppies. His advice to fellow Tacraons is to volunteer and get involved. Then cherish and enjoy your time in this organization for it will pass too quickly and you will miss it and the friends you make here.
