Myra Hafer

Honorary Membership (2021)
University of North Texas

Myra attended her first TACRAO conference (1990) in Lubbock, Texas. Our beloved Don Palermo, who was the Director of Admissions at UNT, was assigned as her TACRAO Mentor. Over the next three decades, Myra attended and participated in every TACRAO conference except for three. She served on numerous committees, as a member and/or as the chairperson. In addition, she served as a presenter, moderator, facilitator, and recorder for numerous TACRAO conference sessions. She also was a Mentor to many new and upcoming members in TACRAO as well as to the higher education profession.

Last year, Myra retired from UNT after serving over 40 years in the areas of admission, transfer, recruitment, articulation/partnership agreements and remote campuses (e.g., Higher Education Centers). Although she has retired from her fulltime employment, she continues to work in higher education as an Adjunct Professor at UNT in the Department of Applied Arts and Sciences, and at Collin College in the Department of Social Sciences where she teaches such courses as civic engagement, social research, and introduction to sociology.

During her spare time, Myra loves reading, writing, solving word and jigsaw puzzles, travelling and most of all, spending time with her furry four-legged children.

She provided the following quote: "Always remember that you are absolutely unique. Just like everyone else." (Margaret Mead)
