Wanda Munson

Honorary Membership (2018)
San Jacinto College

Our third recipient this year for TACRAO Honorary membership is Wanda Munson.

Wanda was one of my first professional mentors when I was lucky enough to work with her at East Texas State University (now TAMU-Commerce).

Wanda began her career in higher education in 1986 serving as Assistant Director of Admissions/Assistant Registrar and later Director of Admission in Commerce. In 1992, Wanda left Commerce for Houston and San Jacinto College where she served for 26 years in the roles of Dean of Enrollment Management and College Registrar and Dean of Student Records Management and College Registrar.

Wanda was an active member of TACRAO serving as a presenter and a member on various committees. Wanda was instrumental in creating the New Member program for TACRAO and served on the committee that created the Texas Common Course Numbering System.

She served as President of TACRAO in 2001 and after years of service and participation, served as Vice President of Admissions and then President of AACRAO in 2009, the first woman from a Texas Community College to serve in this role.

Wanda was unable to join us this year but hopes to be able to join us in Galveston next year to receive this award.
